Miles for Charity
(Washington, DC) October 29, 2009 - Our MLB Watch Party Fundraiser to benefit the Women's Sports Foundation's GoGirlGo! Program was a great success thanks to our friends who joined us to support this fantastic cause. Women's sports go hugely unnoticed in the world of philanthropy, yet the involvement in sports has a tremendous impact in the lives of girls and women. As the parents of a blossoming baby girl, we want to teach her the importance of physical activity in her life and as well as the necessity to give back to others. Our MLB Watch Party Fundraiser to benefit GoGirlGo! took place at the Continental Modern Pool Lounge in Virginia. In addition to fundraising, the event gave us an opportunity to catch up with our friends after our summer tour. We are proud and thankful to our friends who donated and came to support us and the Foundation. Our guests got to meet our guest athlete, female pro-footbal player, Donna Wilkinson of the DC Divas. She gracefully tackled the crowd, gave out autographs, posed for pictures and gave Sofia great advice on health and fitness. They also had an opportunity to win door and raffle prizes. We would like to thank the Continental Modern Pool Lounge for donating the space and the tips collected from the back bar for the evening. 100 percent of the proceeds collected from our fundraising efforts benefit the Foundation. We would also like to thank all of our baseball fans out there who participated in our online baseball memorabilia Ebay Charity Works auction to benefit the Women's Sports Foundation's, GoGirlGo! Program. Our Miles for Charity online auction featured baseball memorabilia given to us for charity by the MLB teams themselves! We are grateful to the teams who graciously donated to our cause.
